Historic summer camp partners with Federal Agency to foster understanding, connection, and delight.
INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – The first annual Mushroom Festival at Jameson Camp (2001 Bridgeport Rd.) is a free event for the whole community to attend on Saturday, April 22nd from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This event will feature a variety of activities related to mushrooms and fungi, such as foraging, nature walks, outdoor recreation, and more. Sponsorship opportunities are available and qualifying vendors may attend at no cost.
“We are thrilled to be hosting the first mushroom festival here in our camp community,” says Ris Pitzer, Environmental Education Manager at Jameson Camp. “I think it is so important that kids get out into nature and learn about the incredible things that grow all around us. This festival will provide an engaging way for the whole community to explore our local ecosystems and learn more about the natural world around them.”
Food vendors will be available for those who want to sample some delicious local dishes. Plus, AmeriCorps NCCC Maple Team 1 will lead fun games, educational hikes, and crafts for kids of all ages. So come out and join us in celebrating the beauty of mushrooms and fungi while having some family-friendly fun!
